December 16th, 2017

About a month ago, Rachael suggested we pick a day in December to head to Brookfield Zoo and see all the lights. We all loved the idea obviously, because tonight we did just that! :)

It took a little longer to get to the zoo than expected due to all the insane traffic. But eventually we got inside and were immediately amazed at the sight of all the lights! Mike and I have gone to this event for the last two years, however this year there was definitely a ton more lights than they have ever had. It was absolutely beautiful.

The first thing we decided to do was ride the carousel, so naturally I was a very happy camper. :) Everybody rode together while Mike Sr and Laura went and got us hot chocolates and coffee.

After the carousel, we had fun just browsing around looking at the lights and animals. We went into The Swamp along the way and Peter got to see the big alligator!

Everybody loved the light-up Christmas lights earrings I wore! So many people kept pointing and commenting on how cute they were! :)

Eventually we all were getting a bit hungry, so we headed into the food court near the dolphin enclosure to get some grub and warm up a little. We all enjoyed some good conversation (and food!), mostly about the upcoming holidays. :)

After dinner there was only about an hour left before the zoo closed. We checked out a few more animals and lights before calling it a night and hurrying to the parking lot to try and beat the crowds. Overall, it was a nice evening and we were all so very happy to get to enjoy the night together!

On the way home I finally got some time to admire the adorable little dinosaur necklace Mike had bought me right when we had arrived at the zoo! It is so cute! I am so thankful for such a sweet fiancé—he is constantly spoiling me with all kinds of things. :)
