So today was my first day back at Columbia for the fall. And boy, was it a long day. My first class was Typography, which goes from 8:30AM - 12:20PM. I had to leave at about 7AM so that I would make it on time with traffic. Of course, I still almost ended up being late. However, I managed to hurry in just as the class began. My teacher's name is Jilly and she's...interesting. It's hard to put into words, but she's a mix of scatter-brained, overly organized, and well-informed. She drones on and on unnecessarily at times, while others she's almost too precise and nit-picky. It's going to be an interesting class.
I got out of class and drove for home, relieved that the drive took hardly thirty-five minutes. I picked up lunch and walked in my door at 1PM. I lounged around for awhile, watching House and napping. At 4:45PM I left again, this time for my evening class: Website Design I (which goes from 6PM - 9:50PM). Although it was during rush hour, the traffic really wasn't bad—especially compared to the morning commute. I ended up arriving thirty minutes too early. Once class started, I instantly decided I enjoyed my evening class far more than my morning. My teacher, Christy, is super funny, educated, and entertaining. She kept my interest throughout and clearly knows her stuff. I was disappointed to see that I was definitely much more knowledgeable than most of the other kids in class...so I'm probably going to be bored with how easy everything is for awhile. But, still, I think it will be a good class.
Overall, it was a long day—but it was a good day. It's definitely nice knowing I don't have class again for another week! I'm going to enjoy this "one day a week" thing. :)
